Carlson Chiropractic Center Hosting Annual Food Drive to Benefit Area Need During Holiday Season

With the devastation of the May 22 tornado dramatically increasing the numbers of those in need, and the Holidays fast approaching, the team at Carlson Chiropractic Center is pleased to announce their upcoming annual Food Drive, scheduled to take place from November 1-11, at their office at 2318 East 32nd, Suite B.

According to
Map the Meal Gap: Child Food Insecurity 2011, 28.2 percent (71,780) of children in southwest Missouri face food insecurity. That’s five percent higher than the national rate, meaning more than one in four children don’t know where their next meal is coming from and may go to bed hungry. The study also reveals that of those children, 30 percent do not qualify for free or reduced school meals or WIC. Add that to the thousands left displaced and unemployed after the tornado, and it is apparent that the situation is critical.

“Right here in Joplin, many families are facing a Holiday Season with the question of how they are going to feed their families. We are dedicated to helping with that and that’s why we are asking you to join us and help feed Joplin,” Dr. Steven M. Carlson said. “It is truly better to give than receive and we need to do everything in our power to make sure that no child in Joplin has to go to bed hungry.”

From November 1 through November 11, new patients are invited to a FREE day of initial services at Carlson Chiropractic Center. For a donation of a minimum of 20 canned goods or other non-perishable items, participants can get a FREE consultation, examination, x-rays if needed, and a Report of Findings. An adjustment however, is not included and would need to be scheduled for a different appointment with standard fees applicable. To take part in Carlson Chiropractic Center’s special offer, a person only needs to call their office at 417.781.6300 to schedule an appointment for a FREE day of initial services.

In addition, existing Carlson Chiropractic Center patients are also invited to take part in the Food Drive, and for a donation of 10 canned goods or non-perishable items, they can receive a FREE extra adjustment on Saturday, November 5, from 8:30-11 am. All food items collected throughout the drive will be donated to the Salvation Army.

“Together we can make a difference in the needs that our community is facing this Holiday Season,” Dr. Carlson added. “We need to make sure that we do all that we can to help our community, our friends and neighbors, and most importantly, the children.”
