Body & Mind Health Living Expo

Carlson Chiropractic Center to Participate in
Body & Mind Health Living Expo Saturday, November 14
and Hot Chocolate Tour Sunday, November 15

Joplin, Missouri – Carlson Chiropractic Center is pleased to announce they will be participating in the Joplin Globe’s Annual Body & Mind Healthy Living Expo on Saturday, November 14 from 8 am – 3 pm. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, the area’s premier conference center, at 3615 Range Line Road.

The Body & Mind Healthy Living Expo is a win-win for the Joplin community as it allows thousands of area residents to visit different vendors and discover steps that they can take to achieve an overall wellness. Local businesses also benefit, as they will have the opportunity to showcase their products or services to a great number of people they might not meet otherwise, all representing many different facets of the community.

“This is the perfect opportunity for people to meet some of our staff and doctors, ask questions, and collect information,” Carlson Chiropractic Center’s Director of Operations, Heather Carlson said. “This is really an ideal way for people to see if chiropractic is something that may help them achieve their healthcare goals.”

The Carlson Chiropractic team will be manning a booth at the Body & Mind Healthy Living Expo not only representing their Center, but also offering complimentary spinal screenings with Myovision. Myovision is a state of the art machine that allows Carlson Chiropractic Center to do a computerized spinal examination through what is called surface electromyography. Myovision is used to evaluate which specific areas/levels of the nervous system are being adversely affected by Vertebral Subluxations, and is currently the only device that allows the muscle tension around the spine to be evaluated in a standing, static posture.

“This is also a great way that we can get out there and help the community as well,” Carlson added. “So many people don’t really realize that with chiropractic care, they can discover the true wellness lifestyle. We like to show our patients the natural way to better health.”

Carlson Chiropractic Center is also joining in the Body & Mind’s Healthy Living Expo Hot Chocolate Tour on Sunday, November 15. Vendors participating in the Expo are invited to open their offices on Sunday to allow Expo attendees to tour their individual offices and learn more about the services they provide.

“The Hot Chocolate Tour will serve as an added value to the Expo attendees,” Lee Ann Robertson with the Joplin Globe said. “This way people can visit the offices and business represented on Saturday, and learn more about the services they provide without fear of sales pressure or obligation.”

“We are excited to be a part of this event,” Carlson said. “This will just be a great way to meet a lot of people, and a great way to spend the weekend.”

Since 2003 the professionals at Carlson Chiropractic Center have worked with a hands-on approach to health care, committed to bringing each of their patients better health and a better way of life by teaching and practicing the principles of chiropractic wellness care. Carlson Chiropractic Center Offers Free Spinal Care Classes

Joplin, Missouri – The team at Carlson Chiropractic Center is pleased to announce How to Live Young Your First 100 Years! A complimentary spinal care class that is offered not only to their existing clients, but also to the general public every Tuesday at 12:15 pm, and every Thursday at 6:15 pm, in their offices at 2318 E. 32nd Street, Suite B, Joplin.

“These classes are a great opportunity for us to educate people on the importance of taking care of their spine,” Director of Operations and Marketing Heather Carlson said. “We offer this class as a service to our patients, and the community, as a learning opportunity as well as a chance to ask the doctors specific questions.”

According to Dr. Eric J. Gormanson, How to Live Young Your First 100 Years! Focuses on prevention, prevention, prevention. “Typically, what we do and recommend for the spine is similar to what a dentist does for your teeth,” he said.

“We don’t go to the dentist to have them just drill and fill and look for cavities, we go and let them clean our teeth and do a cavity screen to prevent problems,” Dr. Gormanson added. “With spinal care, we can catch a problem with stiffness and lack of mobility, but really, preventative steps must be taken to care for the spine before functional disabilities start.”

As life expectancy increases, baby boomers especially are moving into a time where the odds of living past the age of 80 have greatly increased and with increased life span, there is increased risk for musculoskeletal and mobility problems. While active prevention is perfect to start while you are young, Dr. Gormanson says that it’s never too late to take care of your spine.

“Most people don’t realize they have a problem until the pain starts. Pain is always the last to show and the first to go, and by the time pain sets in, more than likely damage has already occurred,” Dr. Gormanson said. “We want our clients to enjoy life and not spend time suffering unnecessarily.”
